Deep thought

The soul, then, is the essence of a person as God has created them. It is the true self that is God-given and God-breathed. In a redeemed person, the soul is animated and indwelt by the Spirit of God. While we cannot take credit for having been given a soul--which is to say, our personhood--we have a choice about whether we will cultivate the true self that we have been given or whether we will squander it in the pursuit of other things that we deem to be more valuable.
--Ruth Haley Barton

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?"
--Jesus (Mark 8:36)

BolderBoulder 2009

When: Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)
Where: Boulder, CO on the CU campus
Time: Depends on what wave you sign up for

We would love to have anyone who is interested join us in running the BolderBoulder. The race is 10k (6.2 miles). You can sign up via the website or at a Runner's Roost (Arapahoe and Parker). You can be a runner, a jogger, a walker, or a little bit of everything. It is a fun race!

We will set up a meeting place in the stadium for everyone to meet up after they finish the race and cheer others on as they cross the finish line. If you don't want to run the race, you can still come and cheer for those who are. There is a large expo at the end.

If you're interested in doing the race, let us know in the comments.

It's all about Jesus

In 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 we learned that...

  • Paul works for Jesus (v.1)
  • The Corinthian believers have been purified by Jesus (v.2)
  • And so is everyone who calls on Jesus (v.2)
  • Grace and peace is from Jesus (v.3)
  • Jesus is the embodiment of God’s grace (v.4)
  • Believers are enriched and equipped by Jesus (v.5)
  • Jesus will return as Lord (v.7)
  • Jesus keeps believers blameless to the end (v.8)
  • Believers are in fellowship with Jesus (v.9)

Corinthian Leather

We're starting a new series on 1 Corinthians and I wanted to clear up any confusion that may have been caused by this man and/or commercial...

There is no such thing as "Corinthian Leather" (read here). The Corinthians were known for other things... and we'll talk more about that on Sunday.
